A Bit About Aix

Pronounced 'X' here's a few facts about my new home base, the city of a thousand fountains.

It seems my whole life has led up to a semester in Aix. My heart was set on studying in France from the beginning. I can't wait to practice French, polish my cooking skills, and slip into the renown 'Joie de Vivre.'

It seems the world constantly nods towards French sophistication and culture. Celebrations worldwide are rung in with a glass of Champagne, and countless buildings are modeled after the opulent Versailles.

All these signs seemed to led me to France- specifically Aix-en-Provence, often referred to as ~the gem of southern France~.

Aix-en-Provence is a university city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southern France. Aix is the birthplace of Cezanne, home to 40,000 students, and famous for its markets- all hallmarks of traditional southern French culture.

Not to mention magical fountains are tucked behind every street corner.

This all makes me feel as though I’m walking in the footsteps of Belle from Beauty and the Beast- thankfully I have an abroad reading list that would make her proud.

To spend 4 months living in a city famed for its art history, fields of lavender, and pastries- seems like my own personal fairytale.
